PAAT/Eddie Murphy

1985 was a strange year. It was the height of the 80s. Miami Vice, Born In the USA, Reaganomics, AIDS, Cold War, and Back to the Future. 1985 had it all.

It was also the same year a comedian that as little as 5 years ago was a nobody who got an gig on SNL. Then after his rise to fame on there, and the 1982’s “48hrs” with Nick Nolte, and 1984’s “Beverly Hills Cop”… Eddie Murphy was a household name.

And like many stars who rise to fame.. particularly around that era, decided to not only take on movies, tv and commercials.. but decided to grace us with their (lack of) singing capabilities. So on September 4, 1985, Eddie Murphy released this ditty:

Eddie Murphy - Party All the Time (Official Video)

Oh man what we were thinking?!?

But of course, stars did not learn, as Bruce Willis ..who like Murphy, was a nobody before they debuted. Bruce’s claim to fame was starring in “Moonlighting in September 1985. Prior to that, he was a bartender in NYC. So in 1987, Bruce came out with this song:

Respect Yourself ~ Bruce Willis

But unlike Murphy.. at least Willis could sing somewhat. Not very good, but could sing. But that was not Bruce’s first song, that goes to this number he did on Moonlighting during the infamous 1986 “Taming of the Shrew”-esq episode entitled “Atomic Shakespeare”

Bruce Willis singing Good Lovin' in Moonlighting

I hated that episode btw.. I get it people loved it. But after the show being on hiatus a few times, then they came in with that steaming pile of poop as a in-fill episode.

Anyways… I bring this entire post up because this morning, This song came on. And I was like “oh.. damn I forgot about this one”. And that I thought I lost the actual mp3 file, as it was somewhere else and appears in playlists. But it never updated the location of the file so I assumed I accidentally deleted it. (like I did some other songs). But here’s the song.. its a remix by Deep Dish of Sharam’s “Party all the time”.

I think Sharam & Deep Dish did it justice, they kept the 1985-feeling, yet gave it an updated sound. (Well updated as of 2006).. have a listen:

And if you can’t get enough, here’s the full 7 minute extended version:

PATT (Party All The Time) Deep Dish Remix

And now you will have this song playing in your head all day today.
